Professional Credit Repair
Do you need professional credit improvement help? Buyer beware! There are questionable law firms that drag your case out for months on end just to squeeze more money out of you. Or backroom “credit repair” factories that take your money up-front and then vanish in the night. Who can you trust?
Finding Reputable Credit Repair Services
Check the service’s website for the Better Business Bureau (BBB) logo. It should be clickable directly to the company’s BBB rating. If you don’t see a BBB logo, do a search engine query on the company’s name along with the text: Better Business Bureau rating. Not all companies are BBB members, but that doesn’t mean the BBB doesn’t keep a complaint history on them.
Fees & Services
Do not pay any credit repair agency up-front! Under the U.S. Federal Credit Repair Organizations Act, credit repair companies cannot require you to pay until they have completed their promised services. You must be provided with a full disclosure of fees, their cancellation policy, consumer disclosure and how long it will take them to complete the service, all in writing.
